Balenciaga $2900 bag that looks just like the $1 IKEA bag

Balenciaga $2900 bag that looks just like the $1 IKEA bag

Balenciaga fashion designers have no fresh ideas, so they started to exploit the old good ideas. This time, the source of inspiration became the legendary $1 Ikea bag, Frakta. The only difference between these two items is their price: fashionable Balenciaga costs $2900, while the practical original by Ikea is $1.

The French luxury fashion brand Balenciaga made a surprise when offered its customer to buy a large shopper bag for $2900, knowing perfectly that the item looks like one-dollar Ikea’s hardy Frakta bag. Was it an irony or sarcasm?

The fashion world is doing many things, creating many items year by year, but the fashion experts noted the crisis of idea in this dome. In recent years, the designers used to copy the details or an entire idea of the previous item for including it into own collections. But today, they prefer to call it ‘citing’ not plagiarism as it is, indeed.

Ikea reacted immediately, the old good Sweden brand is pretty excited about having inspired Balenciaga though.

“We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents [in US$]. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!”

the Swedish chain told Today.com in an email.

Balenciaga vs Ikea bag: find at least one difference

Balenciaga while reimagining Ikea bag, did nothing but copying. Ikea logo, actually, wasn’t present – there’s one only difference. Called the Arena Extra-Large Shopper Tote Bag and sold on Barneys.com, the bag’s price tag is justified by its material that’s constructed out of “blue wrinkled, glazed leather”.
