The lead role of the young Queen Elizabeth II brought The Crown its first Golden Globe, but despite this success, Claire Foy steps down. As well as her movie partner, Matt Smith, who played Queen’s husband.

The Crown’s producers are going to develop the success of the TV-series about the epoch of Elizabeth II, the first season’s star was, undoubtedly, Claire Foy who played the monarch in her young years. But the season will not show us this gifted actress, Netflix’s bosses are going to tell the story of Elizabeth II with another, aged, actress.

Foy’s co-star Matt Smith will also be recast as the show jumps decades down the road in the lives of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
