Can Al Gore End up Being the Democratic Candidate

Al GoreIt is just about impossible for either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to have enough delegates to win the nomination by the time of the convention. That is unless one decides to drop out. In that case, there will be a wild convention, to say the least. There has been talk of someone such as former Vice President Al Gore being a compromise candidate in the event that the delegates can not come to an agreement between Clinton and Obama.

As a matter of fact, a group http://www.algore.org/ that was formed back in 2007 to try and draft former Vice President Al Gore is now working towards that goal and if the Pennsylvania primary goes like it seems it will, with Hillary Clinton getting the larger proportion of the delegates, making it even harder for either Clinton or Barack Obama to go to the convention a winner, they are ready to go full steam ahead with another draft Al Gore campaign.

The party is very bitterly divided over the issue of who has the most experience and would be able to actually get their programs up and running. And the personal side of the campaign has taken a trip to the dark side to the point where it is overshadowing the issues. It is hard to envision the convention getting off to a unified start and just about as hard to envision it ending that way.

The primaries and their own issues such as the delegates from Florida and Michigan being banned and the debate over the fact that the super delegates may be the deciding factor not the delegates won in the primaries could end up being a mute point. If the delegates decide on a compromise candidate, all of the months of primaries will not amount to a hill of beans.

This is not as easy as it appears. The delegates are committed to their candidates. It could all boil down to whether or not Clinton and Obama can agree to put aside their own ambitions and plans to unite the party for a battle against John McCain. And Al Gore would have to be open to the suggestion. Then there is the question of who would be the Vice Presidential candidate.

Of course this is all supposition and it might never come to pass, but it is a possibility. Do you think it would be in the Democratic party’s interest to seriously consider a compromise candidate?

  1. I am an independent. I love my country not a party. I decided more than a year ago that I will vote for Al Gore in November. If he isnt on the ballot, I will write in his name. I decided I will never again choose the “lesser of two evils” when I vote. I will vote for the person I believe is the best person to lead America forward. Gore is a statesman. He is respected by the world. We need someone who can help restore our image in the world. We need someone who can help America move from being an oil based nation to renewable resources. This will create desperately needed jobs for our citizens. Jobs will put money in the people’s pockets who will spend it which will create more jobs. McCain is a warmonger. Clinton has turned into this raging lunatic who thinks she should be president because her husband was president? Obama seems like a good man but many people in our nation are not ready for him. As VP, Obama would gain experience and it would give those less progressive citizens a chance to ease into what is a necessary step forward for our nation.

  2. The Goracle can’t take the chance of running. He might actually win, and destroy forever his carefully crafted image as President-in-exile.

  3. I have wanted Al Gore from the beginning but have been supporting another candidate only because he has not givene me the option I wanted. Although I have contributed my own hard earned money to the campaign of my candidate of choise, I would love to see Al Gore get the presidential bid as I truly think he is the only person at this point to unite the democratic party and the country!

  4. Yes yes yes. Gore should be president. He won it once and was denied the job. He hasn’t collected millions of dollars that could have gon to shoring u p much of our economic tribulations, and that instead have been wasted on a nasty mudslinging campaign. Lert’s brong back some integrity and dignity and competence to our b eloved country.

  5. Until everyone realizes that the monetary system we are using, the bankrupt socialism based programs we adopted, and the willful neglect of the Constitution are the root cause of all our nations woes, we are never going to move forward as a nation or as a species.

The answer isn’t socialism people. The democrats are the ones who have predominantly taken us into the wars in the past as well as the ones who voted to release the funds from Social Security towards other endeavors, rather than keeping the funds where they were SUPPOSED to be.

Now we have two parties who are both a bunch of socialists, one catering to Big Pharma/Med and the other catering to the military/industrial complex. All of them are a bunch of crooks that are bankrupting our nation with the pseudo-Federal fed reserve.

If only everyone would quit watching Iron Chef and playing with their Wii’s and actually LISTENED to what RON PAUL, DAVID WALKER (the former head accountant of our government…he quit because nobody would listen to him) and MICHAEL SCHEURER (the former head CIA guy of the Bin Laden unit) had to say about how to run this country, it could get back to it’s former glory.

As it stands now, we are a debt based, credit driven consumer society. PETER SCHIFF has a good deal of explanation on why this method of doing things is UNSUSTAINABLE.

I’m just talking to the wind here. Everyone is going to vote for the cretin obama or gore and continue to police the world (even though we’re BANKRUPT), institute ever more government largesse (even though we are creating the money out of thin air to fund these programs (thus devaluing the purchasing power of our currency and pushing more ppl on welfare etc) because taxes aren’t high enough….even though we are the 2nd most highly taxed population on the entire friggin planet)

Same thing with the neo-con Republicans. Just allocating the fake money towards other endeavors.
WE HAVE TO CUT SPEEEEEEEENDING PEOPLE! We simply CANNOT continue down the path we are on. We are insolvent.

  6. Neoconned, you are right on. How can people NOT listen to the voice of reason??!! People, wake up!! No matter what other arguments are for or against the war, socialism, or any other issue …… the sad but true fact is that we are bankrupt, and simply cannot afford to keep going forward with these programs. I can’t believe people are so blind. We can’t afford to keep sending money away from our country for wars, military occupations and bases, and largesse in the terms of “aid”, which is really “control” of other nations. We cannot keep giving everything to illegal immigrants. For God’s sake, we are not being fair to our own people who have put money into Social Security and Medicare FOREVER. Why should our money go to any other cause ……… if we first haven’t satisfied those obligations?! Why should illegal immigrants receive “instate tuition” to our colleges …. when people from our own nation have to pay “out of state” tuition? This is INSANITY! On top of all the taxes, our freedoms are being flushed down the toilet. Can you imagine having to show identification to travel? That sounds like the old Soviet Union. Unbelievable. And it’s unspeakable the the highway systems that were built with taxpayer money are now being rented to overseas entities ….

  7. who are now turning them into toll roads … and we have to PAY to travel on them. It is truly SICK what is happening to our country while 90% of our residents slumber. We are losing the very things the first revolutionaries gave their blood for. While our present soldiers give their blood for something that has nothing to do with our liberties … but rather everything to do with somebody elses wealth in terms of oil. How sick can this get.

  8. Thank God for one patriot who at least is voicing these things, Ron Paul. But it’s too late, unless people open their eyes and ears, and consider …. consider ….. what is happening, and do something. It’s going to take all of us.
