Cindy McCain Says Campaign Will not be Negative, but——

John and CindyCindy McCain has vivid memories of what negative campaigning did to her family back in the 2000 Presidential race and recently, in and interview on the Today Show, she stated that McCain would not employ any negative tactics in this campaign, no matter if his opponent is Obama or Clinton.

She went as far as to say that they would rather not win than engage in a negative smear campaign. In a news conference on Friday, McCain accused Barack Obama of being the favorite of Hamas, and also gave the impression that he believes Obama would be friendly with Iran because he said he would be willing to hold meetings with Ahmadinejad without any preconditions.

Now it is true that Hamas issued a statement supporting Obama, but no one can control who does or does not give an endorsement. A group that is considered a terrorist organization by Washington could have hidden meanings for endorsing a candidate. IF we don’t believe them on other things, we cannot believe them here either. As for negotiating with Iran, or any other unfriendly country, that is what should be done first. If an agreement cannot be reached or if an agreement is broken, other steps may need to be taken.

Cindy McCain may not agree, but that sure looks like negative campaigning with a smear thrown in for good measure. Maybe they forgot that back in 2006, McCain and Obama actually agreed on how to deal with terrorists when they both co-sponsored the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act. This act basically states that the United States as well as other countries should not have contact with terrorists organizations until they did what Obama said they should do which is not to talk to Hamas until they recognize Israel. As well as do what they have said they would do in previous agreements. Hamas is not a government, and should not be dealt with as such. Iran is different.

Cindy McCain may have had good intentions, after all she and her family have been on the receiving end of the nasty side of politics. But it is almost impossible to conduct a campaign with out it and it looks like the McCain campaign will be dishing out some negative vibes.
