One Candidate Gets a Favoriability Boost
Today’s polls have more good news for one of the campaigns. And one of the Vice Presidential candidates has seen his/her favorability rating rise.
In a poll taken by Diageo/Hotline on the night of the Vice Presidential debate, Joe Biden saw his favoriability rating rise from where it was on Sept 28th, 42% to 49%. Sarah Palin remained steady at 45% for the week. Biden’s unfavorable rating dropped from 33% to 31% and Palin’s from 40% to 39%.
In the National polls, all three released today, Gallup, Rasmussen and Diageo have Obama/Biden leading McCain/Palin by 7%.
And as for the individual polls, The Star Tribune has Obama 55, McCain 37 in Minnesota. Minnesota is considered leaning towards Obama. Another poll like this and it will be firmly in his column. We already have Minnesota adding in Obama’s total, so this will not change the numbers.
A poll from the Denver Post shows Colorado to be a dead heat, with each of the candidates getting 44%. Colorado is considered a swing state, but one in which Obama was leading by as much as 9%.
A poll from the Morning Call has Obama leading by 10% in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is already in Obama’s column, so no change here.
Colorado could very well turn out to be one of the states that stays a swing state until the very end. It started out as very close then Obama took a good size lead in the last two polls. Now it is heading back the other way again.
We are just two days away from the next Presidential Debate. The first one did not change much, except for the fact that Obama has been inching up day by day. There was no big surge. McCain needs to score some big points in this one. He needs to turn things around now. Not next week, now. He needs to put his plans on the table for everyone to see. Not what he plans to do, how he will do it. I have said this before, it has not happened and he is slipping further behind. The voters are not going to be sidetracked. Allegations against his opponent are not going to make the voters shift to his column. Only a well designed program will.
There is also supposed to be a decision on troopergate this week, by Friday. There has been a lot of back and forth with this, with the Republican Campaign trying to get it stopped. Last word from the courts in Alaska was that it would go on. This could be one very interesting week, with the turn of events having a big impact on the election. It could end up being one of the most decisive weeks of the year.
