Iran Threatens Unlimited Oil Prices
This enforces the fact that we must become free from the need for oil. Iran has stated that there will be unlimited oil prices in our future if there is an attack against Iran and I suppose that means by any country.
Evidently, the government of Iran firmly believes that they are in eminent danger of being attacked either by the United States or by Israel. Just this week they conducted tests of missiles that have the capacity to strike in the heart of Israel and now they threaten our oil supply. It is not a threat to be taken lightly due to the fac that Iran is the second highest producer of oil and if they shut off supplies, there is no way other countries can pick up the slack.
I have said this many times before. We must accelerate our production of alternative fuels and the cars that use them. And use eco friendly products in our homes. If we send the message that we are not going to be held hostage by countries that would do anything to bring us down. The people of Brazil stated to take action back in 1973 when the world faces an oil embargo and the lines and gas stations went on for blocks and when you got to the pumps, you were only allowed to by a few dollars worth. While we started with reforms and then stopped when gas became available again Brazil kept up the effort, even though other countries scoffed at them. Well, Brazil is having the last laugh now because they are 100% energy independent.
Brazil makes ethanol from sugar cane, we have plenty of corn, and no it will not cause a food shortage. Yes, we can have years when the weather throws us a curve and crops are damaged, but most times we have a surplus and if we keep thinking with a what if mentality, we will never have the courage to take the steps that will eventually lead us to energy independence. It will not be a short journey, for we are late starting and there is much to be done. But if we loose interest like we have in the past, we will never get there and one of these days it will catch up to us big time. It almost did this year. The price of oil is one of the main reasons why our economy is going to hell in a hand basket.
Even the small measures that the United States and some of the countries in Europe are taking now are making the countries in OPEC sit up and take notice. Can you imagine the effect a full scale fuel independent program will have?

Iran can’t control the global price of oil…yet.
We should leave Iran an honorable path of retreat. Engaging Iran in the global economy is the only approach that has merit.
Regardless of Iran’s size however, we should be careful what we assume about Iran; it has some ten million men of military age.
Puor bien savoir les choses, il en faut savoir le detail, et comme il est presque infini, nos connaissances sont toujours superficielles et imparfaites.
Unfortunately, what we do know is that the Bush administration cannot be trusted to do what it says. Iraq taught us that lesson. Many experts have long been predicting that Bush would invade Iran before he leaves office. But of course, the Bush administration would never admit to such a thing.

What Iran needs more than anything right now is something to lose. We’ve backed it into a corner and given it few options. Iran needs to be plugged into the global economy. Once its people are engaged economically, and it will have plenty of internal motivation to play better with others.
