Madonna was told she was ‘not fit to raise children’ as she was twice divorced

Madonna opened the new children hospital in Malawi, the home country to her two kids, David and Mercy. The 58-year-old celebrity confessed while her statement at the opening her Mercy James Institute for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care in Malawi that she was not fit to raise adopted kids because of her two divorces.

The pop queen Madonna recalled today how hard was the fight for the right to adopt her daughter Mercy. The singer was waiting for that permission three-and-a-half year. in 2009, she, at last, won the right to be a mother to an adorable girl from Malawian orphanage.

In 2006, Madonna successfully took on the care of her son David Banda, another Malawian orphan, and now the singer recalls that it was rather hard to get the permission to adopt both these kids. In legal terms, Madonna wasn’t fit to raise the children, she had a controversial reputation plus two divorces.

Ten years ago, Madonna was initially told it wouldn’t be possible to adopt the kid as she had recently divorced film director Guy Ritchie. On Tuesday, the star and philanthropist arrived Malawi to be present at the opening new paediatric centre fo kids, Madonna recalled in her statement:

‘I never gave up. And I never backed down. And I believe that if you want something badly enough in life, the universe will conspire to help you get it. It may not be exactly when you want it, it may not come exactly when you think it’s gonna come. It may not come in the package that you want it. But if you persevere, you will win.’
