Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Witnesses Spectators Packed Manhattan

The Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade witnessed spectators packed Manhattan sidewalks on Thursday amid tight security and global threat after the deadly Paris attacks on November 13 that killed 120 innocent people and injured about three hundred others.

US President Barack Obama said there is no specific threat from ISIS, al Qaeda or any other terror groups against the nation this holiday weekend. He added Americans are safe to travel over the holiday.

New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said it will be a very celebratory and very safe Thanksgiving. Police were patrolling in record numbers. Helicopters hovered overhead. No reports of any incident or arrest have come across.

The event is in its 89th year and over 3 million people is said to have lined the route of the parade.

It is expected about 50 million people to have watched the 2.5-mile parade event on television across the world.
