Mark Zuckerberg To Donate 99% Of Fortune To Charity

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is now a dad. His wife Priscilla Chan gave birth to a baby girl last week even though the announcement was made this Tuesday.

The announcement on Facebook page however is surprising as the couple has pledged of donating 99 percent of their shares of the social platform to human advancement cause.

If taken the current valuation of Facebook, the donation calculates to around $45 billion, which is of course one of the largest pledges in history, until now.

According to Mark, the calculated money will be going to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to pursue the mission of funding non-profit organizations. Focus of the vehicle will be on curing disease, personalized learning, building strong communities and also connecting people.

The 31-year-old social media mogul is one of the wealthiest men in the world. He and wife Chan had earlier donated $100 million to public schools in Newark, New Jersey. The two have also pledged of donating another $120 million to schools in poor communities of the San Francisco Bay Area.
