Philippines accuses China of secret island building

September 7, 2016

The Philippines expressed their dissatisfaction with the behavior of China, which carries out the construction of the artificial island. On Wednesday, Philippines released photos to back its accusations that China had secretly begun a cementation works to control over an important plot in the hotly contested South China Sea.

The Philippines accuses China of secret island building, the country back its claims with fresh photos. They demonstrate how Chinese ships preparing to build an artificial island on Scarborough Shoal, a strategic fragment in the South Chinese Sea. Moreover, China doesn’t stop the building even on the eve of a meeting in Laos — between Southeast Asian leaders and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

China assures that it had not launched construction at the shoal, but the Philippines show the images, which show a totally different view. According to them, last weekend Chinese construction teams were capable of dredging sand and other activities required to build an artificial island. The territorial claims over an island have long been a major source of tension in the South Asian region.

The Philippines say about their disturbing of Chinese manipulations in the South Chinese Sea. The Philippines continue their surveillance and monitoring of Chinese presence and activities.
