President Bush booed at the opening pitch of Washington Nationals game

President George W. Bush was greeted Sunday by thousands of resounding boo’s while being introduced at the Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Walking to the field from the tunnel, the booing did not let up. With a wave a and an un-acknowledging smile, he walked to the mound, threw a pitch to the catcher and quickly left the field.

Not surprisingly, Dick Cheney was also booed in 2006 at the opening game for the Washington Nationals. Bush failed to make the opener in 2006 and 2007, coincidentally the years when the spread between his approval/disapproval ratings were at all time lows.

With the countless number of issues working against President Bush, hopefully he wasn’t expecting a warm welcome. Water-boarding, the excessive length and mis-management of the Iraq war, the failing housing market and credit crunch, the looming confrontation with Iran, the Patriot Act liberty violations and the almost daily news of the Administration over-stepping their bounds are just some of the issues that have brought Bush’s job approval to just about the lowest of any president in history. According to a Pew Poll from 3/19, his current approval rating is at a whopping 28%.

Low approval ratings, in conjunction with McCain saying he will continue the Iraq war, push forward Bush’s Social Security proposals and keep the Bush tax cuts intact, may put the Republicans at an immediate disadvantage in the 2008 election. The American public has shown they are looking for a change in this years election, and McCain isn’t showing much of that by seemingly offering 4 more years of the current Administration.

  1. Although he really should have been boo’d it sounded like cheers and whistles to me. Sad when people can’t feel it when they are being sodomized by a broom hand wielded by GWB

  2. it seems that u wore anti-bush boos during the broadcast which converts boos into cheers and whistles

  3. Unfortunately there is no legal recourse to legitimately euthanizing those citizens who have IQ’s lower than 70. I suppose if you did this, there would be no atendees to the Washington Nationals games. It saddens me that Americans have absolutely no manners whatsoever when it comes to our elected officials. There is NO excuse to act like drunken asses in public. Yet this is the decline of USA, we have no idea of how manners work and simply insist on bleating out our opinions in any manner we choose. I am sure kids in the stands were treated to such Washington Nationals treasured past-times like profanity, spitting and other hooliganisms. Shame on all of you.

  4. He deserved every boo he got!

  5. Wow, that just shows how intelligent we are as a country. I don’t care if people like him or not. We should’nt ‘Boo’ our leader. Other countries are sitting back laughing their asses off at us. And we let them

  6. Just because someone is “elected” doesn’t mean they should be above getting booed. We don’t have a dictatorhip, Joe Smith. Also, I doubt many people were drunk, it was the start of the game, it usually takes most fans until the 7th inning to be totally smashed.

  7. When our president acts like a war criminal, he deserves to be booed. Don’t we have freedom of speech?

  8. I’m glad people booed him! The every day citizen will most likely never have the chance to talk to the president and tell him how they feel. You can send letters and emails and whatnot, but he never sees them. At least here, he couldn’t really deny what people were doing. Good for them!!

  9. Joe Smith,
My husband served two tours in Iraq. His future is clouded with many post-ware “what happens if…” Many of our troops over there are booing you as well as this “president?”

My questions to you are: 1) Where were you when posting your comment? 2) Did you have family involved in this travesty? Are you one of those drinking in the stands (thus projecting)? Can you accept blood on your hands as well this president should?

  10. Getting to the bottom of this argument:

First, as citizens in a free country we are guaranteed the right to freedom of speech and are therefore well within our rights to express ourselves with cheers and boo’s.

When discussing the moral question of whether we should or should not boo I think back to little league. I was always taught that booing was unsportsmanlike and therefore frowned upon, but within today’s society where parents shout obscenities at children and even attack other parents on the sidelines, booing somebody you don’t like seems to be as American as apple pie.

If we are to be judged and “laughed at” by other governments I admit that booing our President is one way to accomplish that. I also believe however that the “Strategery” of this administration, which led to the creation of a cartoon named “Lil Bush”, provides ample opportunity for a good old laugh at America. In this nation I believe we should all be accountable for our own actions and in essence reap what we sow. I believe this is just one more example of Bush collecting the wonderful bounty to which he is duly entitled.

  11. C’Mon now… it’s not nice to Boo at retards…

  12. Wow, I can’t believe the crowd at the Nationals’ home opener! I mean, come on, President Bush did not deserve that kind of reception! That’s terrible! The crowd should have booed him louder and thrown some garbage at him when he stepped out on the field!

1/20/09: THE DAY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!

    VOTE BARACK OBAMA!!!!!

  13. Too bad it was just booing!… Waterboarding our fuhrer would have been a much more satisfying show!

  14. Those Cheers Were Edited In BTW
