More “Great” Unemployment Claims

-Editorial

Our mass media is in a frenzy this morning with “better than expected unemployment claim numbers”.

The unemployment claims applications dropped by 38,000 to 550,000 in the week ended Aug. 1st, per figures from the Labor Department.

Well that’s just #%8@ing great!

If you dig deeper into the numbers, you will see that 139,291 people were shifted to the “extended benefits” category.

8 states have already run out of unemployment funds and are being forced to borrow from the already broke Federal government.

But hey, who cares!!! As long as we have a bigger credit card to pay off our smaller cards, everything is just fine!

To be fair, the mass media has pointed out that current unemployment levels are the highest on record of any “recession” we have seen to date.

Ummm… that’s because this isn’t a recession.

This cannot continue. It’s that simple. 70% of our economy is consumption. Without jobs we will not have a recovery and we are NOT recovering. In fact, things are getting worse.

Don’t take your current job for granted. Make sure you’re in a field that is relevant and has some growth potential moving forward, or you might just find yourself on “extended benefits”.

Great Investing to All!
