Thai king Bhumibol Adulyadej dead aged 88, country mourns

People of Thailand has suffered an irreparable loss: the death of the King Bhumibol Adulyadej has shocked everyone. The advancing age of the monarch was not a secret to anyone, but the passing of such prominent personality became a painful blow to Thais. Thousands of people sincerely commiserate the royal family and mourn the death of their beloved monarch. This man has done much for Thailand, so people are very grateful to him.

On Friday, thousands of Thai mourners have poured on the streets of Bangkok, as the body of King Bhumibol Adulyadej was moved from a hospital to the Royal Thai palace. Bhumibol Adulyadej became the world’s longest-reigning monarch, he died on Thursday aged 88 after years of ill health.

Thai people adored their monarch, and the government has declared a year-long official mourning period. The longest reigning requires the longest mourn, decided Thailand. As a successor named the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, however, he asked for a delay in the process.

Thai people have a great respect to the enigmatical Bhumibol Adulyadej, many people even thought he was a semi-divine. From now, Thais been asked to wear black, and avoid “joyful events” during the mourn period. All the concerts, festivals and cinema screenings have been cancelled or postponed, all TV-channels are airing programs about the king’s life.

King Bhumibol was widely respected across Thailand, cal;ed him a semi-divine. Thai King earned the devotion of Thais for his efforts to help the rural poor, such as agricultural development projects, and works of charity.
