The childish reason why Donald Trump is missing tomorrow’s debate

The childish reason why Donald Trump is missing tomorrow’s debate

Fox News will host the Republican debate on Thursday and, although all big names will be present to display once again their ideas with just a few days before the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump has announced that he’ll bail the debate. The reason? He doesn’t like the host Megyn Kelly, says CNBC.

Will the debate be the same without Mr. Trump?

“Let’s see how much money Fox is going to make on the debate without me”, said Donald Trump at a news conference, according to the same source. This came soon after Fox News announced the lineup for Thursday’s GOP debate. “It’s time that somebody plays grown-up”, added the businessman. This surprising decision was confirmed by Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski. “He will not be participating in the Fox News debate on Thursday. It’s not under negotiation”.

Missing this debate with just a few days before people in Iowa and New Hampshire decide on whom to vote seems like a bad strategy move from the Republican front-runner. One that rival Ted Cruz wants to explore.

Ted Cruz had an excellent response

“If Donald is afraid to defend his record, that speaks volumes. I promise you, Putin is a lot scarier than Megyn Kelly”, said Cruz. It all started in August, when Donald Trump launched an attack on Kelly, following her indiscreet questions and remarks on the mogul’s treatment to women. The story was reanimated by a tweet from Donald Trump a few weeks ago, saying that Kelly has a “conflict of interest” and “should not be allowed to be the moderator of the next debate”, confirms CNBS.

Of course, the network came into Kelly’s defense. “Megyn Kelly has no conflict of interest. Donald Trump is just trying to build up the audience for Thursday’s debate, for which we thank him.”

In an interview with CNN on Monday, Donald Trump confirmed this personal war with the journalist “I don’t like her. She doesn’t treat me fairly. I’m not a big fan of hers at all”, said the businessman.

Can this affect the poll standings?

Donald Trump leads the GOP race, but with such attitude it wouldn’t be a surprise if the mogul loses ground to second place follower, Ted Cruz. It may be overconfidence involved, but Trump should be aware that Americans want a strong leader, not just a hater chit-chater. “Obviously we would love all of the candidates to participate but each campaign ultimately makes their own decision what’s in their best interest”, said Sean Spicer, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, according to the same source.

It also looks like Trump’s decision to bail the debate has something to do with a network’s statement on Tuesday morning. “We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings”, claims CNBC.

No matter the statements, Trump’s childish display shouldn’t have happened. A true leader is a man with flair, patience, one who can cope with war and peace at the same time. Donald Trump has proven once again that he’s far from being that leader.
