Brownback exits race…Ron Paul, Alan Keyes, Mike Huckabee will get bump
Sam Brownback is set to withdraw from the republican primary race tomorrow. This is not a surprise, due to only having 94,000 cash on hand end of the third quarter. Brownback in all regards was more successful in raising money than his main rival in the field Mike Huckabee. This was not true in the third quarter but only by 75,000. Brownback started off in the race a better contender than Mike Huckabee but slowly lost ground, and was all but wiped out at the Ames Iowa straw poll. Huckabee placed second at the straw poll, Brownback placed third. In almost every debate Huckabee shined (that could be argued) at least compared to Brownback…
Huckabee should see a large bump from this seeing that they competed for the same religious base. Though if Alan Keyes is taken seriously you will begin to see Huckabee starting to lose support from the religious right. Ron Paul is slowly (that also could be argued) taking the title of best chances to break into the “top tier” of candidates. I really cannot wait to these first primaries happen. I believe a shakeup is in order.
