Dangers of Interventionism #2: Military Aid
So we’ve taken a look at how Foreign Aid policies and how they undermine our principles and create imbalance in the free market of governments. Military Aid, the act of sending our troops to different states, is another one of these interventionist tactics. A lot of this aids go the war on drugs, subsidizing former soviet states, and peacekeeping operations around the world.
Again, this has a similar effect on foreign governments as Foreign Aid, artificially influencing the rise and fall of governments. No matter what we think about the government, it is up to the people of that nation to revolt and take by their country as we had done in the revolutionary war. While we may have noble intentions, we only end up creating government structures that aren’t compatible with the culture and politics of the state as we did with aiding Karzai in Afghanistan when it probably should have been a Republic, which has since created a corrupt government that forces Karzai to make institutions as they go along to appease the Afghani warlords.
Sending out troops all around the world also effects our national security by limiting the number of troops we have at home to defend our people, our home. Do you think another nation would send their troops to the US to help us in the middle of government reform? Maybe Canada since it’s in their interest as our neighbors but Europe, Asia, and African states have their own interests to look after, we should take heed from them, especially Switzerland.
In the end the only beneficiary of sending our troops all around the world to fix problems that aren’t our responsibility isn’t our country or the country where we send our troops, but the contractors. After it’s all said and done it’s the Military-Industrial complex who wins from these Interventionist policies and make off with freshly printed tax dollars before they are devalued. Interventionism is bad policy, again this is why come Primary season a Ron Paul nomination is OUR ONLY HOPE of changing the course of our nation. You can wait till tomorrow, but by then it’ll be too late.
