John McCain has filed the paper work to receive matching funds.  Public financing does look like the only option for him at the moment, though he has not officially said we would actually take the money. The McCain campaign is just keeping their options open… or so they want the public to believe. While they will eventually take the public fanancing, it means he will have a harder time, in the long run, campaigning against Mitt Romney, and Rudi Giuliani. Those candidates will not have spending limits. McCain is only eligible for 6 million at the moment. That 6  million will keep him afloat, but why bother? He really should just drop out of the waste. Not only has he wasted the money that he has received; now he wants to waste the money that people didn’t want to give him. While I do feel that some candidates really need public financing, I really feel like John McCain blew his chance. A candidate should not do worse each time he is featured on a debate.  Go home McCain.
