Polls: Obama Picks up One State, McCain Gains in Another
The polls are coming in fast and furious, with most of the focus on the swing states. The two debates that have been held so far have not had that much effect. But I have a feeling that the debate tonight might be a different story and the polls at the end of the week will reflect just that.
Ohio
Two polls from Ohio have entirely different results. One from Fox News/Rasmussen has McCain up by 1%. The other one from ABC News/Washington Post had Obama up by 6%. If you average out the last 7 polls on Ohio, Obama is up by 3 ½ %. McCain has only led in two of them each time by 1%. Obama has led by as much as 8%. That is still not enough to put Ohio in Obama’s column, so it remains a swing state.
Florida
There is one poll from Florida, Fox News/Rasmussen and it shows Obama in the lead by 7%. Out of the last 7 polls in Florida, Obama has led in 6 by as much as 8%, McCain has led in one by 1%. Florida will stay a swing state, at least for now.
Virginia
Virginia got the most attention with e polls in one day. In the Fox/Rasmussen poll, Obama leads by just 2%. But in the other two it is different story. Survey USA has Obama up by 10 and Suffolk has him up by 12. Obama has led in 5 of the last 7 by as much as 12, McCain in 2, each time by 3%. Im giving this one to Obama, with reservations. It may turn around, but I don’t think so. So Obama picks up 13 Electoral College Votes .
Colorado
There is one poll in Colorado, Fox News/Rasmussen, and they have Obama up by 6%. Obama has led in the last all but one of the last 5 polls in Colorado, and that one was a tie, but he has not hit the magic 10% number yet, so for today, Colorado stays a swing state.
Missouri
One poll for Missouri from Fox News.Rasmussen and it shows Obama up by 3%. The last 4 polls in Missouri are evenly split, Obama winning 2 by 3% and 1% and McCain winning 2 by 2% and 1%. Too close to call yet, so Missouri stays a swing state.
North Carolina
One in North Carolina, from PPP, has Obama up by 6%. The last 4 polls in North Carolina are two wins for Obama, 6% and 3%, one win for McCain, 3% and 1 tie. Obama is closing in, but not there yet.
New Hampshire
Survey USA has Obama ahead by 16%. We put New Hampshire in Obama’s column a could of days ago, so his position is the same.
Pennsylvania
Morning Call tracking has Obama leading by 11%. Pennsylvania is already in Obama’s column. Just more solidly now.
New Mexico
New Mexico is another state that has been in Obama’s column for a while. The Albuquerque Journal has him still in the lead by 5%.
Georgia
Research 2000 has John McCain in the lead by 7%. McCain has led in all 4 of the last polls in Georgia, but his margin has been less in each of the first three. He has gone from 11% to 8%, to 6% and now to 7%. Georgia could be one that could go down to the wire.
So with all this, Obama picks up one state, Virginia with 13 Electoral College votes, giving him 361 and McCain 187.

John McCain is used to force the election of Barack Obama.
Barack Obama forced you to pay for Wall Street’s bailout.
Stop the extortion, blackmail, bribery, and division;
