I don’t think the goal set by the campaign has much to do with how much we give. We give because Ron Paul’s campaign excites us. It’s far more exciting for supporters to exceed the goals (especially if it’s spectacularly so) than to fall short or get discouraged because they’re chasing a moving target. Changing the goal would be bad mojo and could demoralize the donors.

Let’s do $20M when the goal is $12M. That’s exciting, and it makes a far better set of news cycles.
