That's a bit out of contest there Dave. The Electoral college is not a bad thing in it's intended function. It is actually a way of protecting us against Democracy, while addressing the inherent problems of stretching a republic over a very large populace. In the Federalist Paper #10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalist_No._10) James Madison addressed this issue, and I think it's probably the most important of the Federalist Papers to read, closely followed by #'s 50 and 51.
The delegate system allows citizens to nominate themselves as delegates, which are then elected by others within their voting precinct. It is hoped that since the proposed delegates have a chance to speak (At least in caucuses...less often in primaries) that delegates will be chosen for their wisdom and understanding of the issues of importance.
The trouble is: A number of states provide a number of delegates from fixed positions within their own party, so for example here in Nevada the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Council and 3 others are guaranteed delegate positions. Other states have their own laws governing the electoral process. Also changes have been made deliberately within the ranks of the GOP to ensure the success of candidates who agree with the positions of those at the top. Alan Greenspan has publicly accused George W. Bush of rigging the electoral process. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=PTCEokZl8aU)

Anyhow, the delegate system is what differentiates our Constitutional Republic from the mob rule of Democracy. There is a very important distinction between the two, and for all of our public officials heroic claims of "Spreading Democracy"...I'll take our Republic over the oppression of the majority every time.

Angel ........ Just because someone gets the most votes in a general election doesn't mean he will become prez.

Sad to say this BS has been going on for a LONG time. Its called the Electoral Collage.

Let me list the people who won the popular vote but lost the race. (BTW.. Its called the popular vote)

Al Gore
Grover Cleveland
Samuel J. Tilden

Just to name a few that Won the popular vote and yet didn't become prez... The electoral collage is a system designed to steal elections from the people of the USA.

Plain and simple.

Angel, this is a terrible thing that's happening in Texas. And our complicit corporate media won't tell Americans what's really happening. It's an amazing situation we're in.

We've got this hero, Ron Paul, who will take back our country for us, but the media has got a gag order on him. We have to bust our butts to get his message out. Boots to the ground every day, because that's the only way people will learn the truth.

We are certainly blessed to have a candidate like Ron Paul to vote for. In the past, I've held my nose when voting, but this time it will be for who I WANT, not the lesser of the evils.

Good bless you, Angel!

Rudy collapsed because Rudy had no substance, other than pure evil. It also didn't help that he is personally up to his eyeballs in 9-11, and that many in the NYPD and NYFD know it.

Hey, why won't your poll let me cast my vote for Ron Paul? Just like most of the other internet polls. Either his name isn't in them, or the thing won't let you vote for him. One internet poll I went to even moved the cursor to Romney over and over, even though I wanted to vote for Ron Paul. I guess they are letting us know in advance that they don't plan to count our votes come election day.

There is one issue in this campaign that is very personal to me. My farm stands in the path of the I-69 section of the Trans Texas Corridor (the southern leg of the NAFTA Superhighway). According to President Bush and Mitt Romney, this is supposed to be a "myth". NASCO maintains that it is only "improving existing trade routes." For the record, there is NO EXISTING TRADE ROUTE THROUGH MY FARM! At a meeting on January 22, 2008 in Hempstead, Texas, Waller residents were informed that the land (nearly every square inch of this county) will be taken for the NAFTA Superhighway. We were informed that we will be "relocated by the government" and that they will remove us by force if necessary. Under Governor Rick Perry's "Quick Take" law, they can take the land without giving us fair compensation for it. Millions upon millions of Americans are living and working in the path of the corridor. They believe it can't happen to them. It's coming faster than they think. While President Bush is still calling it a "myth", the Canadian government has announced that they have made agreements with our governments, federal and state, and businesses, to complete the NAFTA Superhighway in its' entirety. Ron Paul is committed to stopping the NAFTA Superhighway. He is the only candidate who has told us the truth about the NASCO plan. The first Bush dreamed up NAFTA, Bill Clinton signed it, and the current President Bush is pushing the land grab faster than anyone could have imagined. If Ron Paul fails to secure the GOP nomination, he will still win the general election, and the Republicans will never see the inside of the White House again. That's because, if every American in the path of the NASCO Supercorridor project votes for Ron Paul, he will have the biggest landslide victory since Ronald Reagan ran. That's how big this thing is.
