Bush Legacy is Far Beyond Repair

On this the evening before President Bush will deliver his final State of the Union address, the favorite topic in the old media seems to be the Bush legacy. As in, “Will Bush be remembered as…” While there may be talk of Bush trying to leave office on a high note, his actions lead me to the conclusion that even he is not able to convince himself that such a feat is possible.

The main theme of his speech will without a doubt be how he plans to stimulate this “slowing” economy. The stimulus package that Bush will urge Congress to pass is not going to fix any of the central issues that face the United States economy, but it may have a positive impact on his legacy by simply passing the problem to future generations.

Bush also seemed to be making an attempt to polish his legacy earlier this month when he toured the Middle East, which followed the reopening of Middle East peace talks in Annapolis. A peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians is an issue that Bush successfully ignored for seven years of his Presidency; despite many Middle East experts having little doubt that the conflict is the fundamental problem in the region. On his tour of the Middle East it became clear that his primary goal was to drum up support in the region for air strikes against Iran, by portraying Iran as an imminent threat to the region.

This tinkering with aesthetics in relation to Bush’s legacy comes at a time when the Bush administration has been forced to admit that their once lofty goals of immigration and social security reform have failed.

The White House has informed the press that another topic Bush will be addressing will be to urge Congress to reauthorize a domestic surveillance law. So while he supposedly is worried about his legacy, he still does not lack the hubris that is needed to stand in front of the American people and demand that he be able to hold onto the power that allows the government to spy on its own people.

And that in the end will be the true legacy of the Bush administration, their lack of shame and overwhelming arrogance. In this case they are waving a check for several hundred dollars in front of the American people with one hand, who are in desperate need of the money, while continuing to openly suppress their civil liberties with the other hand.

  1. The economy is in ruins. This president lets leeches take peoples homes left and right. He flashes cash that won’t pay a mortgage payment to the middle class and says I fixed your problems. The Fed lowers interest rates and causes the dollar value to plummet.

This is a legacy for both this President and the Republican Party hacks that put him there.

I’m ashamed to be a Republican. Now the dems can give all thats left of the middle class to the lower class and the upper class will whistle and say too bad about that.

  2. Bush legacy is that he is the first Christian president of the United States to be manipulated by neocons and Zionists to sacrifice America lives and values for a Zionist agenda.
The neocons employed Zionist money and resources to first influence the presidency and then ultimately to control it. They also “partnered” with evangelicals and right-wing conservatives by appealing to and supporting their values so they would vote as a bloc to elect Bush. At the same time the neocons found Bush as a person who they could indoctrinate, manipulate and use as long as he did what they told him to do. The neocons and Zionists manipulated Bush who in turn manipulated young Americans to go to war in Iraq on the belief that they are fighting a war to bring democracy to the region and to defeat terrorism. In fact the real motivation behind the war is to destabilize the Middle East in favor of Israel. In fact the Zionist hopes to use Iraq as a staging area to fight wars against all remaining enemies of Israel – namely Iran and Syria. As soon as Bush became president they took over the administration and the US agenda. At the same time they did little to work to achieve the evangelical’s aspirations and ultimately ignored them altogether. Indeed as soon as Bush deviated from the neocons and Zionists agenda (particular when Bush announced that Palestine should have a state in the Middle East) they did a mass exodus and left Bush “holding the bag”.The cost American people pay were over half a trillion dollars and pricessless American lives.
