Homegrown terror top priority for Obama Administration
Eric Holder stated that he believes that homegrown terror is becoming an increasing threat in the United States.
He said in an interview with ABC news, “The American people would be surprised by the depth of the threat, but also reassured to see the assets that have been deployed around the world.”
In the interview Holder alludes to American citizens being trained by terrorist cells over seas to return home and carry out violence against their own country. (Most recently a white Muslim man named Daniel Boyd and six others that were recently arrested in North Carolina for allegedly planning to carry out violent jihad.) What is troubling about this heightened attention towards homegrown terror is that in recent months the Liberty movement has suffered the experience of being profiled as a potential threat by law enforcement, so one has to wonder if the nation’s top cop is poised for an overreaction.
Meanwhile, over at the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano called on the American people to help in the fight against homegrown terrorists. She said that even children could be educated on what to look out for in airports and other key locations.
She was quoted as saying in a speech today, “There’s actually an important role we can play in educating even our very young about watching for, and knowing what to do, if you’re in an airport and you see a package left with no one around.”
To say something does not feel right about that statement out be putting it mildly.
She quickly followed up that statement by saying that she didn’t want to create a culture of spying on one another or profiling people of a particular race or religion.
I’m trying to imagine what it would psychologically do to a young child to be sat down and told that the government needs them to help stop the bad men that want to murder Americans. I’m guessing it would not be the healthiest thing for the child’s development.
But it seems that the Obama administration has no qualms about continuing the Bush administration’s culture of fear.
When these recent comments by Obama cabinet members are put into the context of the recent top stories in the last week’s new cycle, the seven men being arrested for plotting terror over seas, the racial tension building with the Prof. Gates arrest, the muted racial tension that lies beneath the so called “birther” story, one begins to see that the Obama administration is fanning the flames, not extinguishing the fire.
I can see how the administration is building a profile for the next boogieman. And it very well may be the Libertarian wing of the Republican Party. Both sides are guilty of fanning the flames in the mainstream media. One only needs to read the document referenced in this article to realize that targeting of the Liberty movement has already been taking place by law enforcement.
