Is the Left-Right Paradigm a Cruel Joke? Peter Schiff and Ventura
The political climate that is taking shape is unprecedented in its friendliness towards independents. If predictions of most economic experts across the spectrum are correct and the economy is still in a rut a year and a half from now. Then when the public begins to see campaigns for the midterm elections begin in earnest, it might very well be a wrap for the two-party-system that we all know and love.
The way events have unfolded in the last 8 years have set the stage for damage to be done to the two-party-paradigm that could bring about a collapse of that system which has held the American political system captive for over 130 years.
In 2006 the nation turned on the Republican Party because of the Iraq war among other questionable actions, including going back on a promise to uphold the tenants of fiscal conservatism. Now if the Democrats find themselves at the doorstep of the midterm elections with the economy still in shambles, the voters in the United States will be less than enthused to turn back to a Republican party. A Republican Party whom are still licking their wounds after the Bush administration and an embarrassing McCain/Palin ticket.
If independent candidates start to shape up and ship out to their local neighborhood immediately, they might have a chance. But, if on the other hand, they choose to wait and see the big money come rolling in for the incumbent they will never stand a chance as always.
One man that comes to mind for a candidate for an independent run is Peter Schiff, the economic genius that warned of the disastrous economy that we now find ourselves living. Peter Schiff, for what it is worth, was the economic adviser to Ron Paul late in his Presidential run as the Republican truth-teller. Schiff warned of the bubbles; the housing bubble, the derivatives bubble, and the printing money bubble (the inflation bubble((Please, quiet over there we didn’t ask you Mr. Bernanke.)) and all of the other bubbles that will go unaccounted for due to time and space).
Another political figure that might find his way to the top is Jesse Ventura. Jesse Ventura, the man who took the stage at the Ron Paul Rally in Minneapolis as part of the parallel rally to the RNC. Ventura is not the smartest man to ever exist in politics but that is the point, he is the voice of the people. He has made his political living since his tenure in the office of Minnesota Governor as the pragmatic voice of the people standing up to big business while protecting the civil liberties that are inherant in the Constitution of the United States of America.
In essence any political figure that has an idea that is not currently voiced in Washington, D.C. is subject to the ol’ review by the living in the mother’s basement manchilds that run the interwebs.
Have fun Kids.
