Political Summertime Blues as the Liberty Movement Simmers

As the vast majority of the American public spent their time surrounding the grills, swimming pools and Michael Jackson’s casket, the nation is in political turmoil in a way we have not seen in decades.

Perhaps it is the same trend in American culture that forces the Hollywood studios to release the mindless summer blockbusters while saving the mindpicking dramas to be saved for the winter.

Maybe it is that the kids our out of school and we must shelter them from the tragedy that is the American economy.

Regardless of the reason, the American people have recently been sheltered from the real issues while the King of Pop’s dead body takes center stage.

Meanwhile the Revolution simmers.

The time is ripening for a takeover of the GOP.

The time for political expediency is ending and the time for truth telling is coming to the forefront. Not in Washington but on main street. As people lose jobs or see the walls closing in because of the current wide spectrum of economic elements, they will begin to demand answers.

The recent talk by Obama’s advisor, Laura Tyson, is possibly exactly what the doctor ordered for the Liberty friendly candidates. She attempted to make the case for a new stimulus package, which would inevitably further devalue the dollar and worry our current debtors.
As the dollar index tests a 6 month low and unemployment continues to climb well beyond multi-decade highs the population will be driven to become more politically active and generally ask more questions politically.

Cue the Libertarians wing of the GOP. Many Libertarians have woken up and realized that the GOP is essentially up for grabs. Obama is going to continue to use the line that basically reads on the teleprompter, “Hey you might not love everything I’m doing, but do you really want to go crawling back to those guys (GOP).”
And that line will work as long as the mainline Republicans pretend to have a foot to stand on when attacking the current spending or more stimuli by the current administration.

The people that already have a semblance of a public persona have already entered the 2010 political fray to some extent. The citizens who are possibly going to enter this political fray are namely, Rand Paul (the son of Ron Paul), Peter Schiff (the economist who predicted the current economic crisis) and Adam Kokesh (the ex-military man who fought on the front lines in Fallujah and has paid his dues as an anti-war activist).

So while us political nerds long for the winters of Iowa and New Hampshire, the reality is that the next political fight is already beginning in this country. And the more people that get involved early on in the cycle, the more substantial the shift and consequence of the coming elections has the chance to be.
