70% of Finnish citizens declared their refusal to make concessions to Turkey for the sake of NATO

Most of the respondents – 79 percent – would like Finland to become a member of NATO, about the same number of Finns do not want to make concessions to Turkey for the sake of it.

The vast majority of citizens (70 percent) do not want the country to change the law, although support for Finland’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance has reached a new record. It is noted that in the previous poll, support for NATO entry was 73 percent.

The issue of membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO was raised again after the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.

Only one member of the alliance spoke out against it – Turkey, whose authorities accused Helsinki and Stockholm of supporting terrorists (we are talking about Kurdish formations). Ankara also put forward a number of requirements, without which it will not allow countries to join the alliance.
