A homemade bomb was detonated near the Israeli embassy in Nicosia.

A low-power homemade explosive device was detonated at night near the Israeli Embassy in Nicosia, there was no damage, four suspects were detained,  the website of the Phileleftheros newspaper reports.

The explosion occurred at 01.37 am.

“Police officers, including pyrotechnicians, discovered a small metal object containing a very small amount of pyrotechnic material at a distance of about 30 meters from the embassy, ​​which exploded without causing any damage,” the newspaper writes.

Four people aged 17 to 21 were detained on suspicion of involvement in the explosion. Two knives and a hammer were found in their car and the 21-year-old owner of the car was arrested for weapons offences.

All four were taken to the police and an investigation is underway.
