Police in Berlin found in the car of a man who drove into a crowd earlier on Wednesday a letter confessing to his deeds, this may indicate a deliberate motive for the suspect’s actions.

“This is by no means an accident, this is a mass murder, a cold-blooded killer,” one of the investigators said.

There is no official confirmation of this information. The police said earlier that they are considering all possible options, including a deliberate hit-and-run.

The incident occurred in the morning, the man driving the car drove into a group of pedestrians. One person died and nine were injured. The driver himself was also injured, the Berlin rescue service told reporters. He was detained and is currently preparing for interrogation, police said.

According to media reports, a teacher died, a group of schoolchildren suffered. Police did not release details about the victims, saying law enforcement officers must first notify relatives. At the same time, all of them received serious injuries, the lives of six of them are in danger. The exact number of people who received minor injuries is not yet known.

The driver turned out to be a 29-year-old German citizen of Armenian origin, the press service of the city police said.
