Earlier, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of emergency in 60 counties of the state amid powerful wildfires. “We have one confirmed death in Scotts Acres,” county communications coordinator Deirdre Thomas said. She added that the fire in the city of Stinnett destroyed at least 20 structures.

Also, North Plains Electric Cooperative, a Texas power company that serves seven Texas Panhandle counties, said about 115 miles (185 kilometers) of power lines will have to be restored due to the fire. As the company noted, due to the current situation, about a thousand houses were left without electricity.
