An action was held with the burning of the Koran near the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen.

Members of the extremist group “Danish Patriots” (Danske Patrioter) set fire to a copy of the Koran in front of the Iraqi embassy in Copenhagen, the action was broadcast on the social network Facebook.

The footage shows that first one of the activists set fire to the holy book of Muslims, then his supporter trampled on the flag of Iraq. No more than five people took part in the action, which was held in front of the embassy building.

On Wednesday, the Swedish police issued a permit to hold a rally with the burning of the Koran at the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm. Against this backdrop, hundreds of demonstrators broke into the royal embassy in Baghdad early Thursday morning and set it on fire, media reported. None of the employees of the diplomatic mission was injured. The protesters in front of the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm did not burn the Koran, as previously expected, but one of the protesters trampled on it.

At the end of June, during the celebration of Kurban Bayram, a resonant action was held in the Swedish capital with the desecration and burning of the Koran, which caused a wide response in many countries of the world. Baghdad demanded that Stockholm extradite the immigrant who committed the action for trial, and later dozens of Iraqis gathered to protest near the kingdom’s embassy.

The incident was also condemned by Algeria, Afghanistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Abul Gheit and Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Jassim al-Budaive. The Foreign Ministries of Jordan and the UAE have summoned the Swedish ambassadors to present them with a note of protest.
