An earthquake with a magnitude of about 6.2 struck off the coast of Taiwan on Thursday, according to the China Seismological Center.

The earthquake was recorded at 12.03 local time in the sea area to the east of the island. Seismologists are currently establishing the exact magnitude and depth of its source.
