An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck off the coast of Mexico.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 has struck off the coast of the Mexican state of Baja California, the National Seismological Service said.

“Preliminary: Magnitude 6 earthquake 33 kilometers west of Vicente Guerrero, Baja California … 10 kilometers deep,” the service’s Twitter blog post said.

The National Civil Protection Service reported that they had established contact with local administrations and civil protection committees for a preliminary assessment of the situation in the earthquake zone. No tsunami threat has been reported.
