Argentine President Alberto Fernandez will visit China’s Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of Winter Olympics.

The Argentinian head of state has repeatedly expressed its support for China’s hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics, according to China’s foreign ministry. On Wednesday, the Chinese side has confirmed a visit of the Argentina’s leader Alberto Fernandez to Beijing from February 4 to 6.

For China, Argentina’s support means a lot, the foreign ministry said. With the joint efforts of both sides, President Fernandez’s visit to China will be a complete success, the Chinese official said.

Over the decades, Buenos Aires and Beijing remain good friends who trust each other and good partners for common development, the foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao said and noted that the two nations will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties on Feb. 19.

“Over the past half-century, China-Argentina relations have withstood the test of changing international landscape and maintained healthy and stable development,” Zhao said.

China believes that this visit will open a new chapter in China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, Xinhua reported.
