Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg announced his refusal to impose sanctions against Russian gas

The possibility of refusing Russian gas is not even discussed: this will primarily harm the EU countries, so they will not agree to it, said Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

“There used to be a tough discussion that we should stop getting gas from Russia, and we, like a number of other EU countries, clearly said: this is not discussed, because it would greatly affect us. Here we must be realistic, even if it is emotionally unpleasant,” the diplomat admitted.

At the same time, he stressed: Austria does not refuse other anti-Russian restrictions, but calls for their introduction deliberately.

Earlier, Schallenberg also acknowledged that anti-Russian sanctions affect his country, since Russia is its important trading partner.

According to the minister, Moscow is an important supplier of natural resources, oil and gas.
