Barack, Michelle Obama in talks to provide TV shows for Netflix

Barack, Michelle Obama in talks to provide TV shows for Netflix

Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are one of the world’s most popular people, now, they are in advanced talks with the streaming service Netflix. The streaming service is hoping to have Obamas on the board for TV shows.

Obamas have very powerful acting potential, believe Netflix bosses whose streaming service has nearly 118 million subscribers. A news of this week is a possibility for Barack Obama to produce a series of high-profile TV shows that will provide him really a global platform. Michelle Obama also will be a part of this ambitious project, TechCrunch reported.

After Barack Obama’s departure from the White House, he has maintained a low profile since leaving office. In 2018, Netflix offered the ex-president an opportunity to take part in the number of TV show episodes. So far, the format of the shows has yet to be decided and Obama does not intend to use the programmes to directly respond to criticism by Donald Trump or other political opponents.

In fact, Mr Obama is embracing Netflix or other services that have become a direct threat to the cable and network TV infrastructure, especially among younger viewers. According to Eric Schultz, Obama’s senior adviser:

‘President and Mrs Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better.’

For Mrs Obama, Netflix’s offer means her own programme on topics, like nutrition, that she championed in the White House. Barack and Michelle could also lend their family brand to documentaries or fictional programming on Netflix that align with their beliefs and values.
