Biden says the US is in favor of expanding the UN Security Council

Washington is in favor of expanding the UN Security Council, including through new permanent members, US President Joe Biden said during the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“I believe the time has come for the UN to become a more inclusive organization that will respond more effectively to the needs of today’s world,” Biden said.

To date, the permanent members of the UN Security Council are Russia, China, Great Britain, France and the United States.

Also during his speech, the American leader said that the United States and its allied countries are making a lot of efforts to prevent Russia from attacking NATO members. Biden stressed that more than 40 countries have sent billions for weapons and equipment for Ukraine.
