US President Joe Biden during a telephone conversation congratulated Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on his election victory and expressed hope for even closer cooperation with the new Greek government, and also thanked for supporting Ukraine, the press service of the Greek prime minister said.

Mitsotakis and Biden reaffirmed the close ties between the two countries, as well as their desire to strengthen and deepen the “excellent Greek-American cooperation“, especially in the fields of defense and energy.

Meanwhile, unofficial information has appeared in the media that Mitsotakis is planning an official visit to the United States and a meeting with Biden in September. As reported, the visit is being prepared by the new Deputy Foreign Minister, ex-Ambassador of Greece to the US Alexandra Papadopoulou, and the US Ambassador to Athens, George Tsunis, is playing an active role in preparing the trip.
