Bolivia to receive 200,000 Sinopharm vaccine doses

Bolivia’s government thanks China for its assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Andean nation will receive on Tuesday as many as 200,000 Sinopharm vaccine doses.

Bolivia’s President Luis Arce stressed that the health of a nation is the top priority, that is why the help of the Chinese government is so precious when the Latin American country struggles with the pathogen. On Tuesday, 200,000 Sinopharm vaccine doses and 4.2 million syringes will arrive at Cochabamba airport.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Luis Arce tweeted that the BoABolivia aircraft is already on its way from China.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Integration, one part of the doses will be sent to the border areas with Brazil, which are at risk from the new strain of Sars-CoV-2 detected in its neighbour.

Half of the Chinese batch will be part of the Expanded Immunization Program. The new vaccine doses will be used to continue with the inoculation programme launched in February and start a new phase in April with people over 60 years and patients suffering from serious diseases, Prensa Latina has learned.
