Canada and Latvia will jointly train the Ukrainian military.

Canada and Latvia will begin joint training of the Ukrainian military on “Latvian soil” next week, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said.

“Today I can announce that Canada and Latvia will jointly train the Ukrainian military on Latvian soil, starting from May 15,” she said at a press conference with her Latvian counterpart.

It is clarified that the “leadership development” courses are intended, in particular, for junior commanders, who are supposed to be trained in “planning, coordinating maneuvers, intelligence activities.”

Canada previously announced that it had already trained 36,000 Ukrainian troops.
