It is reported that the forum participants have developed diametrically opposed agendas.
Washington planned to put pressure on the world’s largest economies to take a tougher stance towards Russia and China, while the format of the forum is to discuss economic issues.
“As one of the most important and legitimate platforms for global economic governance, the G20 is coordinating with other platforms such as the BRICS, making the future of global development more equitable and sustainable,” Wang Yiwei, director of the Institute of International Affairs at Renmin University of China, commented on the objectives of the event.
The conflicts at the summit have already occurred. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi did not go to the official dinner of the G20 foreign ministers because of the likelihood of the presence of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov there.
