China does not rule out forceful scenario of reunification with Taiwan

China does not promise to abandon the possibility of using force scenario of reunification with Taiwan, but first will make every effort to ensure that this process is peaceful.

The relevant directives have been published by the Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in the white paper “Taiwan Issue and China’s Reunification in a New Era.”

“We are ready to continue to work sincerely and make every effort for peaceful reunification, but we do not promise to renounce the use of force, we reserve the right to take all necessary measures,” the white paper says, clarifying that the use of force is a last resort.

At the same time, the Chinese government emphasized that the hypothetical force impact will be directed at persons carrying out “separatist activities” in Taiwan, but in no case at Taiwanese compatriots.
