China introduces regulations on military actions of a “non-military nature”

Xi Jinping, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China and the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, signed an order to publish a set of trial regulations on non-military military operations.

“The provisions are aimed at protecting the life and property of people, the sovereignty, security and development interests of the country, world peace and stability in the region. The set of provisions, consisting of six chapters and 59 articles, will serve as a legal basis for military actions of a non-military nature and will enter into force June 15, 2022,” it was officially reported.

These provisions will provide a legal framework for Chinese troops to carry out tasks such as disaster relief, humanitarian missions and peacekeeping operations, as well as to achieve the goals of “protecting China’s national sovereignty, security and development interests.”
