China’s President appoints new ambassadors

The two new ambassadors were appointed by Chinese President Xi Jinping this month.

Under China’s law, the appointment of senior diplomats made in line with decisions adopted by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

President Xi appointed Zhao Bentang as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Portuguese Republic. Mr Zhao is going to replace Cai Run.

The second appointments, Niu Qingbao, will defend the Chinese interests in the Republic of Chile, replacing Xu Bu, Xinhua reports.
