Chinese Defense Ministry announces readiness to fight for Taiwan

The Chinese military will take any measures to prevent the secession of Taiwan from the country, will protect the territorial integrity, said the Ministry of Defense of the People’s Republic of China

The Chinese army will use any means to fight in an attempt to separate Taiwan, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said at a press conference after Minister Wei Fenghe met with US counterpart Austin Lloyd at the Shangri-La Dialogue international security conference in Singapore.

“If anyone dares to separate Taiwan from China, the Chinese army will have no choice but to fight with all means and take all necessary measures to stop any attempts by Taiwanese separatists,” Qian said.

He added that the Chinese military will resolutely protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In their first face-to-face meeting, Fenghe and Austin reached an agreement that the military of the two countries must maintain a key consensus, maintain frequent contact, and manage risks and crises.
