Czech presidential candidate said that he would not send troops to the aid of NATO

Czech presidential candidate Andrei Babish said during the debate on Czech TV that he would not automatically send the country’s troops to help the allies in accordance with the fifth article of the NATO Charter.


The former Prime Minister answered the question of the TV presenter so, whether Prague would help in the event of an attack, for example, to Poland or the Baltic countries.

“No, definitely not. I think that it is necessary to talk about the world, I would in no way send our children and children of our women to war,” Babish noted.

The ex-head of the NATO Military Committee, Peter Pavel, said in response to the same question that the Czech Republic will have to fulfill its allied obligations.

 

“If we are a mㅤember of such an organization (NATO.-approx. Ed.), We must not only receive something from this within the framework of collective security, but also invest something in it. This is our obligation to act jointly if if Someone (from NATO members.-Approx. Ed.) will be attacked, ”Paul emphasized.
