Deputy head of the Pentagon: the United States is developing means of protection against hypersonic weapons

The United States is working on means to combat hypersonic weapons, said First Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks.

According to her, “serious funds” were allocated for these purposes. Hicks noted that Washington wants to be confident in the ability to defend against hypersonic weapons.
The Pentagon spokeswoman added that work is also progressing on America’s own supersonic weapons. She stressed that this is about “promising progress on the American supersonic programs.”

Earlier, the president of Pentagon supplier Raytheon, Wes Kremer, told the British newspaper The Telegraph that in the United States, the field of defense against hypersonic weapons is in its infancy. According to him, Raytheon presented the only project of such a system in the USA.
