Duchess Camilla abandones Prince Charles in Nigeria to go home from royal tour early

Duchess Camilla abandones Prince Charles in Nigeria to go home from royal tour early

Duchess Camilla’s schedule differs from her husband’s one, that is the reason why the royal couple will back home in separate ways. The schedule is too tight for 71-year-old Camilla, she doesn’t want to take too much on, Express said.

Prince Charles arrived at Lagos airport in Nigeria without Duchess Camilla who preferred to get back home earlier than her husband. In Nigeria, Prince Charles has continued the nine-day tour of West Africa.

It is not the first time when Camilla abandoned her husband during the royal tours. In fact, her departure was scheduled ahead of the visit, also left their Australia tour early in April this year. Despite the presumptions, Camilla could become Queen when Charles takes to the throne, Duchess doesn’t want to take too much on.

Of course, the nine-day African tour is too much even for the young person, she does get tired and, probably, it is the best option for her to come back a bit earlier. A Clarence House spokesman has said previously the Duchess of Cornwall does not like flying and this is why she cuts her tours short slightly.

West African royal tour: Prince Charles without Camilla

Charles and Camilla’s current tour began in Gambia on October 31, before they travelled to Ghana on November 2 and to Nigeria on November 6. However, there were some important changes to their schedule in Abuja. The royal couple was forced to pull out of an engagement in the city of Jos due to violence.

In Accra, Queen’s son gave a speech where he talked about the threat of climate change and aired his concerns about rapid urbanisation, the depletion of resources, plastic litter. All these issues concern Charles as the activist and as the grandfather. According to Prince of Wales, the Commonwealth could play a vital part in safeguarding the planet.
