Duda suggested that Germany deploy the Patriot air defense system in Poland.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said that German Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems should be deployed in Poland if Germany does not agree to deploy them in Ukraine.

“From many points of view, it would be good if the Patriot batteries were located at some distance from the Polish border, because then they would protect the territory of Poland, our citizens and part of Ukraine, but if Germany does not agree to the departure of the battery to Ukraine, then this protection need to be taken from us,” Duda wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced an agreement with her Polish counterpart on patrolling Polish airspace by German Eurofighter fighters and deploying Patriot air defense systems in the country.

After that, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, Chairman of the ruling party of Poland “Law and Justice” (PiS) Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of the Republic Mariusz Blaszczak came up with the idea of deploying German Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems in Ukraine, and not in Poland.
