Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, during telephone conversations with Vladimir Zelensky, confirmed his readiness to take on a role in establishing a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.


Erdogan, in telephone conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday, confirmed that Turkey is ready to take on the role of mediator between Russia and Ukraine.

“President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” the Turkish leader’s office said, noting that the conflict had been discussed, and Erdogan also expressed his condolences over the helicopter crash in Ukraine on Wednesday.

It is reported that during the talks, Erdogan confirmed his readiness to make a diplomatic contribution to the establishment of a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine and to assume the role of a mediator in this process.
