Erdogan put forward a condition for considering applications from Finland and Sweden

Ankara will not consider in Parliament the approval of applications from Sweden and Finland to join NATO if they fail to fulfill their obligations, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a press conference following the summit in Madrid.

“This is a long process, we will monitor the implementation of the guarantees and assurances given to us. In case of failure, we will not send it to the parliament,” the head of state stressed.

At the same time, Erdogan called on Sweden and Finland “not to be offended” in case of failure to fulfill their obligations.
