Erdogan says that Greece will pay a ‘heavy price’ if it ‘goes further’ with Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Greece would pay a “heavy price” if it “goes further” with Ankara. He announced this during his speech at the TEKNOFEST festival.

“Greece threatens us with S-300s. Greece, look at history. If you go further, the price will be heavy, don’t forget Izmir,” Erdogan said.

Earlier, the Turkish leader said that Greece’s actions against Turkish fighter jets in the Aegean are a provocation. According to him, Athens is allegedly trying to destabilize the situation in the region, in which NATO helps them.

Prior to this, Ankara accused Athens of launching a missile from the S-300 system at Turkish aircraft during their reconnaissance mission.

It is noted that a Turkish F-16 aircraft spotted a surface-to-air missile during a reconnaissance mission 10,000 feet west of the island of Rhodes in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.

In turn, the Greek Defense Ministry denied Turkey’s statement about the alleged use of the S-300 system against Turkish F-16 fighters.
